Organic cotton has a low impact on the environment and handlers. It is grown and harvested using methods that do not use toxic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or defoliants. It relies on natural methods that include (but are not limited to) crop rotation and cow manure for soil fertility; beneficial predatory insects; elongated growing periods for natural defoliation; and hand picking, which translates into less waste.The health benefits of organic cotton are obvious, as are the environmental aspects: reduction of toxins and pollutants that seep into both soil and water systems and, therefore, into all living things.
