Exploitation in Haiti is unfortunately common among the poor. For people who have the opportunity to train for a particular trade, it is not uncommon for them to be hired under false promises and end up volunteering with their employer. Considering that I was fortunate to grow up in a country where resources were abundant, I decided to contribute to the working conditions of men and women who probably did not experience this type of abundance. Part of the income from my business will therefore be used to create jobs for seamstresses and tailors in Haiti who would unfortunately turn to crime or prostitution to support themselves.
